Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground turkey (93% lean)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup tomato sauce or 2 tablespoons water
  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • Lime wedges, for serving
  • Salsa or hot sauce, optional

Instructions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add ground turkey, breaking it up with a spoon; cook until no longer pink, about 5–7 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle in chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper; stir to combine.
  6. Pour in tomato sauce or water, reduce heat, and simmer 2–3 minutes to meld flavors.
  7. Warm tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave for 20–30 seconds until pliable.
  8. Assemble tacos by dividing seasoned turkey among tortillas and topping with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, cilantro, lime, and salsa as desired.
  9. Serve immediately and enjoy a quick, flavorful meal.
