Ingredients:
- 6 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or a mix), peeled, cored, and sliced (approximately 900g / 2 lbs)
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (25g)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (50g)
- 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar (50g)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (15ml)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces (30g)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (125g)
- 1 cup rolled oats (90g)
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar (100g)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes (113g)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Toss to coat. Dot with butter pieces.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in cold butter using a pastry blender or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Pour the apple filling into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the crisp topping evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbling.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
