Ingredients:

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (280 g)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda (5 g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (2.5 g)
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (170 g)
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed (220 g)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (100 g)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (5 ml)
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 2 cups chocolate chips (340 g)
  • 1 cup toffee bits or colorful sprinkles for decoration (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl. Set aside.
  3. Cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Mix in vanilla extract until combined.
  6. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  7. Fold in chocolate chips and optional toffee bits or sprinkles.
  8. Chill the dough for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  9. Scoop out tablespoonfuls of dough onto prepared baking sheets lined with parchment paper, spacing them about two inches apart.
  10. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown around the edges.
  11. Cool cookies on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.
