Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (240ml) Water, lukewarm (about 105-115°F or 40-46°C)
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) Vegetable Oil (such as canola or sunflower)
  • 1/4 cup (85g) Honey
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons (8g) Salt
  • 3 cups (360g) Bread Flour, plus more for dusting if needed
  • 1/2 cup (45g) Rolled Oats, plus extra for topping
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons (7g) Active Dry Yeast (or 1 packet)
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) Milk or Egg Wash (Optional for Topping)
  • 1 tablespoon (8g) Rolled Oats (Optional for Topping)

Instructions:

  1. Following your bread machine manufacturer's instructions, add the water, oil, honey, salt, bread flour, oats, and yeast to the bread machine pan.
  2. Select the basic bread cycle (usually a 3-hour cycle). Choose your desired crust color (light, medium, or dark).
  3. If desired, gently brush the top of the dough with milk or egg wash, then sprinkle with rolled oats.
  4. Press the 'start' button and let the machine do its magic.
  5. After about 10-15 minutes, check the dough consistency. If it appears too dry, add a tablespoon of water at a time until the dough comes together. If it seems too wet, add a tablespoon of flour at a time.
  6. Once the baking cycle is complete, carefully remove the bread from the machine. Place the loaf on a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
