- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Whipped cream, for garnish (optional)
- Cocoa powder or chocolate shavings, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Brew strong coffee using your preferred method and allow it to cool to room temperature.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, cocoa powder, and salt until well combined.
- Slowly add the cooled coffee and vanilla extract to the dry mixture and whisk until the sugar and cocoa are fully dissolved.
- Pour the mixture into a shallow baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Place the dish in the freezer and freeze for 1 hour.
- After the first hour, take the dish out and use a fork to scrape the mixture into fluffy crystals. Return to the freezer.
- Repeat the scraping process every 30 minutes until the granita is fully frozen and flaky, approximately 2-3 hours total.
- Once frozen, scoop the granita into serving bowls or glasses. Garnish with whipped cream and additional cocoa powder or chocolate shavings, if desired.
