Ingredients:

  • 1 box (15.25 oz / 432g) chocolate cake mix (Devil's Food or similar)
  • ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons milk, any kind
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Chocolate chips, sprinkles, chopped nuts, sea salt (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheet(s) with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Add the chocolate cake mix to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  4. Gently fold in any desired mix-ins, such as chocolate chips or nuts.
  5. Drop by rounded tablespoons (or use a cookie scoop) onto the prepared baking sheet(s), leaving some space between cookies.
  6. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers are slightly soft. Don’t overbake – they will continue to set as they cool.
  7. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
