Ingredients:

  • 12 ounces (340g) Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) Vegetable shortening or coconut oil (optional)
  • 24 Pretzel rods, sticks, or twists (approx 8oz/225g)

Instructions:

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper.
  2. Combine chocolate chips and shortening (if using) in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until completely melted and smooth. Alternatively, melt chocolate over a double boiler.
  3. Dip each pretzel into the melted chocolate, ensuring it's fully coated. Use a fork or dipping tool to remove the pretzel from the chocolate, allowing excess chocolate to drip off.
  4. Immediately sprinkle with desired toppings (sprinkles, nuts, etc.) while the chocolate is still wet (optional).
  5. Place the chocolate-covered pretzels on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Allow the chocolate to set at room temperature or chill in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes.
