Ingredients:

  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened Dutch-processed cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 pinch sea salt
  • 3 tbsp whole milk
  • 1 tbsp neutral oil (avocado or vegetable)
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp water or brewed coffee
  • 1 tbsp semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. In a 10-12 oz microwave-safe mug (Mugs52 Maker Collection recommended), whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until uniform and clumps are removed.
  2. Add the milk, neutral oil, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. Whisk vigorously until the batter is smooth and glossy, ensuring you scrape the bottom corners of the mug.
  3. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips if using.
  4. Pour 1 tablespoon of water or brewed coffee directly into the center of the batter. Do not stir; this creates the 'steam-pocket' for a moist texture.
  5. Microwave on high for 60 seconds. If the center still looks wet, add 15 seconds, but do not overcook. Let rest for 1 minute before serving.
