Ingredients:
- 6 medium apples, peeled and sliced (roughly 900g)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (15ml)
- ½ cup granulated sugar (100g)
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (10g)
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg (1g)
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted (60g)
- 1 cup bread crumbs (120g)
- ½ cup brown sugar, packed (100g)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (5g)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened (60g)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, toss apple slices with lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and melted butter. Set aside.
- In another bowl, mix bread crumbs, brown sugar, cinnamon, and softened butter until well combined.
- Spread half of the breadcrumb mixture evenly in the baking dish. Layer the spiced apples over the breadcrumbs. Top with the remaining breadcrumb mixture, ensuring even coverage.
- Place in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!
