Ingredients:

  • 6 medium apples, peeled and sliced (roughly 900g)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (15ml)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar (100g)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (10g)
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg (1g)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted (60g)
  • 1 cup bread crumbs (120g)
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed (100g)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (5g)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened (60g)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, toss apple slices with lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and melted butter. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, mix bread crumbs, brown sugar, cinnamon, and softened butter until well combined.
  4. Spread half of the breadcrumb mixture evenly in the baking dish. Layer the spiced apples over the breadcrumbs. Top with the remaining breadcrumb mixture, ensuring even coverage.
  5. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!
