Ingredients:
- Ice: enough for four tall glasses (about 2–3 cups / 480–720 ml of ice cubes)
- Grenadine: 4 tablespoons (60 ml) — 1 tablespoon (15 ml) per serving (use pomegranate grenadine where possible)
- Ginger ale: 24 fl oz (710 ml) — about 6 fl oz (180 ml) per serving (or lemon-lime soda like Sprite/7UP)
- Maraschino cherries: 4 (one per glass) — cocktail cherries or Luxardo for richer flavor
- Orange slices or lemon wheels: 4 (optional garnish)
Instructions:
- Chill glasses and ingredients (optional): Place glasses in the fridge or freezer for 10–15 minutes and keep ginger ale or soda refrigerated until ready.
- Fill glasses with ice: Add a generous handful of ice to each glass (about 1 to 1½ cups / 240–360 ml).
- Add grenadine: Measure 1 tablespoon (15 ml) grenadine into each glass. For a lighter drink, use 2 tsp (10 ml).
- Pour the soda: Gently pour 6 fl oz (180 ml) ginger ale or lemon-lime soda into each glass over a spoon or directly, pouring slowly to preserve fizz.
- Garnish and serve: Drop a maraschino cherry into each glass and add an orange slice or lemon wheel on the rim. Serve with a straw and long spoon. For a layered look, do not stir; for uniform color, stir gently once.
