Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450 g) fresh string beans, trimmed and halved
- 1 can (10.5 oz / 300 g) cream of mushroom soup
- ¾ cup (180 ml) milk
- 1 cup (150 g) French fried onions (plus extra for topping)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and freshly cracked pepper, to taste
- ½ cup (75 g) grated cheddar cheese (optional)
- ½ teaspoon (2 g) dried thyme or rosemary (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add trimmed string beans and cook for 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, milk, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
- Add the blanched string beans and 1 cup of French fried onions to the sauce. Mix until the beans are evenly coated.
- Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish.
- Sprinkle additional French fried onions (and optional cheese) on top of the casserole.
- Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes, or until heated through and golden brown on top.
- Remove from the oven and let it sit for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
