Ingredients:
- 400g fresh button or cremini mushrooms, cleaned and stems trimmed
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions:
- Clean and trim the mushrooms.
- In the first shallow bowl, add flour mixed with salt and pepper. In the second bowl, pour in the beaten eggs. In the third bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs with minced garlic and oregano.
- Dredge each mushroom in flour, shaking off excess, dip into beaten eggs, allowing excess to drip off. Coat with the panko mixture, pressing lightly to adhere.
- In a deep fryer or pot, heat vegetable oil to 180°C (350°F).
- Carefully add the breaded mushrooms into the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
- Serve hot, garnished with a sprinkle of salt.
