Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 12 sticks of mozzarella cheese
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions:

  1. Cut the mozzarella cheese into sticks about 4 inches long and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In the first shallow bowl, add flour and season with salt and pepper; in the second bowl, whisk eggs; in the third bowl, combine breadcrumbs, garlic powder, oregano, and additional seasoning.
  3. Dredge each cheese stick in flour, dip in the egg mixture, and roll in the breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Chill coated cheese sticks on a baking sheet in the freezer for another 15 minutes.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan or deep fryer over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (180°C).
  6. Fry mozzarella sticks in batches for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown, then drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve hot with marinara sauce or your choice of dipping sauce.
