Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 12 sticks of mozzarella cheese
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions:
- Cut the mozzarella cheese into sticks about 4 inches long and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
- In the first shallow bowl, add flour and season with salt and pepper; in the second bowl, whisk eggs; in the third bowl, combine breadcrumbs, garlic powder, oregano, and additional seasoning.
- Dredge each cheese stick in flour, dip in the egg mixture, and roll in the breadcrumb mixture.
- Chill coated cheese sticks on a baking sheet in the freezer for another 15 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan or deep fryer over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (180°C).
- Fry mozzarella sticks in batches for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown, then drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with marinara sauce or your choice of dipping sauce.
