Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup (40 g) Droste cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup (65 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 g) salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 g) baking powder
  • 1/2 cup (90 g) chocolate chips or nuts (walnuts or pecans)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease or line the baking dish with parchment paper.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter and sugar.
  4. Whisk in eggs and vanilla until smooth.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  7. Optional: Fold in chocolate chips or nuts at this stage.
  8. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish, smoothing the top.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  10. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Cut into squares.
