Ingredients:
- 1 large (14 oz) English cucumber, thinly sliced
- 1/2 tsp Kosher salt
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp dried dill weed
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 8 slices white or whole wheat bread
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
Instructions:
- Slice the English cucumber into thin, uniform rounds approximately 1/8 inch thick.
- Place cucumber slices in a colander, sprinkle with 1/2 tsp Kosher salt, and toss gently to coat.
- Allow cucumbers to sit for 10 minutes to draw out excess surface moisture.
- Spread slices in a single layer on paper towels and pat the tops firmly until completely dry.
- In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth.
- Stir in the mayonnaise until fully incorporated and lump-free.
- Fold in the dried dill weed, garlic powder, salt, and pepper, mixing until herbs are evenly distributed.
- Optional: Spread a very thin layer of softened butter on one side of each bread slice to create an extra moisture barrier.
- Apply a generous, even layer of the dill cream spread to the buttered side of the bread.
- Layer dried cucumber slices onto the spread and top with a second slice of bread.
