Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 (3-inch) sticks Cinnamon Sticks
  • 2-inch piece Fresh Ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 3 Whole Star Anise (Optional)
  • 6 cups Cranberry Juice Cocktail, chilled
  • 4 cups Pressed Apple Cider, chilled
  • 1 cup Fresh Orange Juice, chilled
  • 2 cups Ginger Ale or Lemon-Lime Soda, chilled
  • 1 cup Sparkling Cranberry Juice or Prosecco, chilled
  • 1/2 cup Fresh Cranberries, for floating
  • 1 large Orange, sliced into thin wheels for garnish
  • 4 sprigs Fresh Rosemary, for aromatic garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Spiced Simple Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine the water, granulated sugar, cinnamon sticks, sliced ginger, and star anise (if using).
  2. Dissolve: Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Do not boil vigorously.
  3. Steep: Remove from heat immediately, cover the pan, and allow the mixture to steep for 30–45 minutes to infuse the spices fully.
  4. Strain and Chill: Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean container, discarding the solids. Place the spiced syrup in the refrigerator to chill completely (minimum 1 hour).
  5. Combine the Punch Base: In a very large pitcher or directly in your clean punch bowl, combine the chilled cranberry juice, apple cider, and fresh orange juice.
  6. Add Sweetener: Pour the fully chilled spiced simple syrup into the juice mixture. Start with about 3/4 of the syrup and taste-test; add the rest if you prefer it sweeter.
  7. Chill: Cover the punch base and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to ensure it is thoroughly chilled and the flavors have married nicely.
  8. Setup Ice: If using a decorative ice ring or large blocks of ice, place them in the punch bowl.
  9. Add Fizz (Crucial!): Just before your guests arrive, pour in the chilled ginger ale (or soda) and the sparkling cranberry juice (or Prosecco). Stir gently—you want to combine, not knock out the bubbles!
  10. Garnish: Float the fresh cranberries and orange slices on top. Tuck the rosemary sprigs among the garnish for a fantastic, festive aroma.
  11. Ladle: Serve immediately with a ladle and small punch glasses.
