Ingredients:

  • 1 box (14.1 ounce) frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 10 ounces thinly sliced deli ham
  • 1 1/2 cups (10.6 ounces) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the filling: In a small bowl, whip together the softened cream cheese, Dijon mustard, and onion powder until the mixture is smooth, spreadable, and uniform.
  3. Unfold the puff pastry sheet(s) onto a lightly floured surface. Ensure the dough remains cold for maximum flakiness.
  4. Assemble the pinwheels: Evenly spread the cream cheese mixture over the entire surface of the puff pastry sheet(s). Layer the thinly sliced ham evenly over the spread, followed by the shredded sharp cheese.
  5. Roll and slice: Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the puff pastry into a log. Use a sharp knife to slice the log into 3/4-inch thick rounds.
  6. Bake: Place the pinwheels cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops lightly with the beaten egg wash to achieve a golden crust. Bake for 18 minutes, or until golden brown and fully puffed. Serve warm.
