Ingredients:
- 1 box (14.1 ounce) frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 10 ounces thinly sliced deli ham
- 1 1/2 cups (10.6 ounces) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the filling: In a small bowl, whip together the softened cream cheese, Dijon mustard, and onion powder until the mixture is smooth, spreadable, and uniform.
- Unfold the puff pastry sheet(s) onto a lightly floured surface. Ensure the dough remains cold for maximum flakiness.
- Assemble the pinwheels: Evenly spread the cream cheese mixture over the entire surface of the puff pastry sheet(s). Layer the thinly sliced ham evenly over the spread, followed by the shredded sharp cheese.
- Roll and slice: Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the puff pastry into a log. Use a sharp knife to slice the log into 3/4-inch thick rounds.
- Bake: Place the pinwheels cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops lightly with the beaten egg wash to achieve a golden crust. Bake for 18 minutes, or until golden brown and fully puffed. Serve warm.
