Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) whole milk, warmed to 100°F (38°C)
- 1/4 cup (50 g) granulated sugar
- 1 package (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
- 3 large eggs, at room temperature
- 3 cups (360 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened (plus extra for greasing)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Bread Machine: Ensure the bread pan and kneading blade are clean and properly in place.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In a measuring jug, whisk together the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add the Eggs: Add the eggs into the yeast mixture and whisk until well combined.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gently mix.
- Combine Ingredients: Pour the yeast mixture into the bread machine followed by the flour mixture. Add the softened butter on top.
- Select the Cycle: Choose the basic bread cycle on your machine and start.
- Monitor the Dough: Check the dough after 10 minutes of kneading; it should be smooth and elastic. Adjust with more flour or milk if necessary.
- Final Rise: Once the cycle is complete, remove the dough and shape it into a ball. Allow it to rise in a greased bowl for 30 minutes.
- Bake in the Oven (Optional): If using a loaf pan, shape the dough and place it in the pan. Let rise for another 30 minutes, then bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes until golden.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the brioche to cool on a wire rack before slicing.
