- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) paprika (preferably smoked paprika for extra depth)
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) black peppercorns, freshly ground (or pre-ground black pepper)
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) kosher salt (or sea salt)
- 1/2 tablespoon (7.5 ml) ground cumin
- 1/2 tablespoon (7.5 ml) granulated sugar (balances the flavors, optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 ml) cayenne pepper (optional, for a little heat)
Instructions:
- In a small mixing bowl, add the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, ground black pepper, dried oregano, dried thyme, salt, cumin, sugar (if using), and cayenne pepper (if using).
- Use a whisk or spoon to thoroughly combine all the ingredients until evenly distributed.
- Taste a small amount of the adobo seasoning recipe blend. Adjust the salt, pepper, or cayenne pepper to your liking.
- Transfer the adobo seasoning to an airtight container and store in a cool, dry, and dark place.
