Ingredients:
- Tablespoons Ground Annatto (Achiote)
- Tablespoon Ground Cumin
- Tablespoon Ground Coriander
- Tablespoon Garlic Powder
- Tablespoon Onion Powder
- Teaspoons Dried Oregano (Mexican preferred)
- Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- Teaspoon Black Pepper (freshly ground)
- Teaspoon Fine Sea Salt
- Teaspoon MSG (Optional)
- /2 Teaspoon Ground White Pepper
Instructions:
- If using whole cumin and coriander seeds, gently toast them in a dry skillet over medium-low heat until fragrant (about 2–3 minutes). Allow them to cool completely.
- If necessary, grind the toasted seeds in a spice grinder or mortar and pestle until they reach a fine powder consistency.
- In a medium bowl, combine the ground annatto, ground cumin, ground coriander, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, turmeric, black pepper, salt, MSG (if using), and white pepper.
- Whisk vigorously for at least 1 minute to ensure thorough and even distribution of all colours and flavours throughout the Sazón Seasoning blend.
- Taste a tiny pinch of the seasoning to check flavour balance, adjusting salt or pepper as necessary for your preference.
- Transfer the finished Sazón blend immediately into a clean, dry, airtight glass jar. Label clearly with the date for optimal storage.
