Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450 g) ground beef (80% lean for juiciness)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder (optional)
  • 4 burger buns
  • Toppings: cheese slices, lettuce, tomato, pickles, etc. (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce or hot sauce (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped onion or herbs (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and allow it to fully preheat.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup. Optional: place a wire rack on the baking sheet for even air circulation.
  3. Divide ground beef into 4 equal portions (~4 oz or 113 g each) and gently shape into round, flat patties about ¾ inch (2 cm) thick, making a slight indent in the center.
  4. Season both sides of the patties with salt, pepper, and optional seasonings. Place patties on the prepared baking surface, spacing evenly.
  5. Bake the burgers for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway if using a wire rack, until reaching desired internal temperature (160°F / 70°C for medium beef).
  6. Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness: 160°F (70°C) for medium beef, 145°F (63°C) for medium rare, or 165°F (74°C) for poultry.
  7. Remove from oven and let rest for 3-5 minutes. Toast buns if desired, add toppings, and assemble the burger.
