Ingredients:

  • 1 small head of green cabbage, finely shredded (about 5 cups)
  • 1/2 cup grated carrots
  • 2 tablespoons finely diced onion
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Shred the cabbage finely. Grate the carrots. Finely dice the onion.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, grated carrots, and diced onion. Mix well.
  3. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sugar, milk, buttermilk, white vinegar, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and garlic powder (if using).
  4. Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture. Toss to coat evenly.
  5. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably longer (up to overnight), to allow the flavors to meld.
