Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) fresh asparagus, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lemon, zested and juiced
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • ¼ cup (25g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon (15ml) balsamic vinegar for additional flavor

Instructions:

  1. Rinse asparagus under cold water and trim the woody ends off the bottom of the stalks.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  3. Add the asparagus to the skillet. Sauté for 3-4 minutes, turning occasionally until bright green and tender-crisp.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and continue to sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.
  5. Remove from heat. Stir in lemon juice, zest, salt, and pepper to taste.
  6. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese before serving; toss to combine.
