  • 4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (for topping)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine strawberries with sugar, cornstarch, vanilla extract, and lemon juice.
  3. Toss until strawberries are well coated, then spread into the baking dish.
  4. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt together.
  5. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  6. Stir in milk until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of biscuit dough over the strawberry filling, ensuring some fruit is visible.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining tablespoon of sugar over the top.
  9. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes or until the topping is golden and the filling is bubbly.
  10. Cool slightly before serving.
