Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (230g) crushed pretzel twists
  • ¾ cup (170g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 tablespoons (36g) granulated sugar
  • 8 ounces (227g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup (113g) powdered sugar
  • 1 ½ cups (360ml) heavy cream
  • 1 (6 ounce) package orange-flavored Jello
  • 2 cups (473ml) boiling water
  • 1 (11 ounce) can mandarin oranges, drained

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Combine crushed pretzels, melted butter, and sugar in a bowl.
  3. Press mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  4. Bake for 10 minutes, or until lightly golden brown. Let cool completely.
  5. Beat softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
  6. In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  7. Gently fold whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until combined.
  8. Spread filling evenly over the cooled pretzel crust.
  9. In a large bowl, dissolve orange Jello powder in boiling water.
  10. Stir in mandarin oranges.
  11. Let cool slightly (but not set!).
  12. Pour Jello mixture evenly over the creamy filling.
  13. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, until the Jello is fully set. Cut into squares and serve cold.
