Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) ground beef
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped (approximately 1 cup / 150g)
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon (2.5ml) dried thyme
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 (10.75 ounce / 305g) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) milk
  • 1 (15 ounce / 425g) can whole kernel corn, drained
  • 1 (15 ounce / 425g) can green beans, drained
  • 1 (32 ounce / 900g) package frozen tater tots

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, corn, and green beans.
  5. Pour the soup mixture into the skillet with the ground beef and onion. Stir to combine.
  6. Pour the mixture into the prepared 9x13 inch baking dish.
  7. Arrange the tater tots in a single layer on top of the beef and vegetable mixture.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy and the filling is bubbling.
  9. Let the tater tot hotdish cool for a few minutes before serving.
