Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (15 ml)
  • 1 pound ground beef (450g)
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped (approx. 1 cup or 150g)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (5g)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper (2.5g)
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup (305g)
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of chicken soup (305g)
  • 1 cup milk (240 ml)
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can green beans, drained (410g)
  • 1 (15 ounce) can sweet corn, drained (425g)
  • 1 (2 pound) bag frozen tater tots (900g)
  • Optional: 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (100g)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and chopped onion. Cook, breaking up the beef with a spoon, until the beef is browned and the onions are softened. Drain off any excess grease. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the browned ground beef mixture, cream of mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup, and milk. Stir until well combined.
  4. Stir in the drained green beans and sweet corn. Mix well.
  5. Pour the mixture into the prepared 9x13 inch baking dish.
  6. Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer on top of the beef and vegetable mixture.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
  8. If desired, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the tater tots during the last 10 minutes of baking. Let stand for a few minutes before serving.
