Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (150 g) fresh pineapple, finely chopped
  • 1 medium habanero pepper, finely minced (seeds removed for less heat)
  • 1/2 medium red onion, finely diced
  • 1/4 cup (60 mL) fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 medium ripe tomato, diced
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Salt to taste (about 1/2 teaspoon or 2 g)

Instructions:

  1. Finely chop the fresh pineapple and place it in a mixing bowl.
  2. Wearing gloves, finely mince the habanero pepper (removing seeds for milder salsa) and add to the bowl.
  3. Finely dice the red onion and incorporate it into the mixture.
  4. Add chopped fresh cilantro to enhance the salsas freshness.
  5. Chop the tomato and fold it into the salsa.
  6. Squeeze in the juice of a lime and sprinkle salt over the mixture.
  7. Gently mix all ingredients until well combined.
  8. Taste the salsa and adjust seasoning if necessary (more salt or lime juice).
  9. Enjoy immediately with tortilla chips or as a topping for your favorite dishes.
