Ingredients:
- 2 shots (60 ml) freshly brewed espresso or strong coffee
- 2 tablespoons (30 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon (15 g) granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk (or any milk of your choice)
- 1 oz (28 g) dark chocolate (70% cocoa) - chopped
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Whipped cream (optional)
- Dark chocolate shavings (optional)
- Cocoa powder for dusting (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare 2 shots of espresso using your chosen method. Set aside in a heatproof container.
- In a small saucepan, combine cocoa powder, sugar, and dark chocolate. Pour in about 2 tablespoons of hot water to help dissolve the cocoa and create a paste. Stir to combine until smooth.
- In the same saucepan, add milk and heat gently over medium-low heat. Stir occasionally until steaming but not boiling (about 2-3 minutes).
- Pour the brewed espresso into the saucepan with the foamed milk. Whisk in the chocolate mixture until fully combined and smooth. Add vanilla extract and stir well.
- Pour the mocha into heatproof mugs. Top with whipped cream and garnish with chocolate shavings and a dusting of cocoa, if desired.
