Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450 g) fresh asparagus, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) fresh lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon (15 g) grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Trim the woody ends of the asparagus.
  2. Place a large sauté pan over medium heat and add olive oil. Allow it to heat until shimmering.
  3. Add the asparagus to the pan in a single layer. Cook for 5-7 minutes, tossing occasionally, until bright green and tender-crisp.
  4. Push the asparagus to one side and add the minced garlic. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, ensuring it doesn't burn.
  5. Add lemon zest, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Toss everything together to coat.
  6. Optionally, sprinkle with grated Parmesan and chopped parsley before serving. Enjoy warm.
