Ingredients:

  • 1 medium onion, diced

  • 1 can (28 ounces / 800 g) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 15 ounces (425 g) ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup (100 g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 12 to 15 lasagna noodles
  • 3 cups (300 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Meat Sauce by browning the ground beef over medium heat, then sautéing onion and garlic until translucent. Stir in remaining sauce ingredients and simmer.
  2. Prepare the Ricotta Mixture by combining ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  3. Cook the Lasagna Noodles according to package instructions until al dente, then drain.
  4. Assemble the Lasagna by preheating the oven, layering meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella in the baking dish.
  5. Bake the Lasagna covered tightly with foil for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake an additional 15-20 minutes until golden.
  6. Cool for 15 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley.
