Ingredients:

  • 9 cups Rice Chex, Corn Chex, or Wheat Chex cereal (approx. 250g)
  • 1 cup (225g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup (125g) creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup (55g) unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups (180g) powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup Red, White, & Blue M&M's or other candies (approx. 100g)
  • 1/2 cup Red, White, & Blue sprinkles (approx. 50g)

Instructions:

  1. Pour the Chex cereal into a large bowl and set aside.
  2. Combine chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the cereal and gently stir until all the cereal is evenly coated.
  4. Pour the powdered sugar into the large resealable bag. Add the chocolate-coated cereal to the bag. Seal the bag and shake well until the cereal is completely coated in powdered sugar.
  5. Pour the Muddy Buddies onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper (or spread them out in the large bowl). Immediately sprinkle with red, white, and blue M&M's and sprinkles.
  6. Let the Muddy Buddies cool completely (about 30 minutes) to allow the chocolate to set. Break apart any large clumps. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
