Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (240 ml) ketchup
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup (50 g) brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons (30 g) honey
  • 1 tablespoon (15 g) Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 g) black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 g) cayenne pepper (optional for heat)

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, add ketchup, apple cider vinegar, honey, and Worcestershire sauce.
  2. Stir in brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Over medium heat, bring the mixture to a simmer, whisking occasionally.
  4. Lower the heat to medium-low and let it simmer uncovered for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Cook until the sauce has thickened slightly; it should coat the back of a spoon.
  6. Remove from the heat, allow to cool, and transfer to an airtight container for storage.
