Ingredients:

  • 4 cups (950 ml) Water
  • 2-inch (5 cm) piece of fresh Ginger, peeled and thinly sliced or minced (about 2 tablespoons sliced)
  • Optional: Honey or Maple Syrup, to taste
  • Optional: Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions:

  1. Peel and slice or mince the fresh ginger. Slicing will result in a milder flavour.
  2. Combine water and ginger in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes. Longer simmering = stronger tea!
  4. If desired, strain the tea through a fine-mesh sieve to remove ginger pieces.
  5. Pour the ginger tea into mugs or a teapot. Sweeten with honey or maple syrup to taste, and add lemon wedges, if desired.
  6. Sip slowly and feel the warmth spread through you.
