Ingredients:

  • 4 medium apples (e.g., Granny Smith or Fuji, about 1.5 pounds or 680 grams)
  • 2 tablespoons (28 grams) unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup (50 grams) brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) lemon juice

Instructions:

  1. Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin wedges. Toss with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.
  3. Once the butter is melted, add the apple wedges to the skillet.
  4. Sprinkle the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt over the apples and stir to coat.
  5. Cook the apples for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally until they are tender and golden brown.
  6. Remove from heat, and serve warm, optionally topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
