Ingredients:
- 1 cup (240ml) warm water (105-115°F / 40-46°C)
- 1 teaspoon (5ml) sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons (7g, or 1 packet) active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) olive oil, plus more for greasing
- 2 1/2 cups (300g) all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 1 teaspoon (6g) salt
Instructions:
- Dissolve sugar and yeast in warm water. Let stand for 5-10 minutes, until foamy.
- In a large bowl, combine the olive oil and the yeast mixture. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, turning to coat. Cover with a clean cloth and let rest for at least 10 minutes (or up to 30 minutes for a slightly better texture).
- Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C) with a pizza stone or baking sheet inside.
- Punch down the dough and roll it out (or stretch it) to your desired shape and thickness.
- Transfer the dough to a pizza peel (if using a pizza stone) or a baking sheet. Add your favorite toppings.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
