Ingredients:
- 2 large sweet onions (e.g., Vidalia or Walla Walla), sliced into 1/2-inch rings
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (15 ml)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (5 g)
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (2 g)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh herbs (e.g., parsley or chives), for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Peel and slice the sweet onions into 1/2-inch thick rings.
- In a mixing bowl, combine olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Toss the onion rings in the mixture until evenly coated.
- Fill a pot with 1-2 inches of water and bring to a simmer. Place a steamer basket over the pot.
- Carefully place the seasoned onion rings in the steamer basket. Cover and steam for 10-15 minutes or until tender (rings should be translucent).
- Transfer the steamed onion rings to a serving platter. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired and serve immediately.
