Ingredients:

  • 5 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • ¾ cup milk

Instructions:

  1. Peel and slice the fresh peaches. In a bowl, combine the sliced peaches, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and melted butter. Stir until well coated.
  2. Pour the peach mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, mix flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk and stir until just combined.
  4. Drop spoonfuls of the dough over the peach filling. Spread it out lightly, leaving some gaps for bubbling.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  6. Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving. Optionally serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
