Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (30 ml)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (around 1 teaspoon minced)
- 1 (28 ounce/794g) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (15 ounce/425g) can tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions:
- Heat olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes, or until fragrant.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes (if using), sugar, salt, and pepper.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- After simmering, taste the homemade pizza sauce recipe and adjust seasonings as needed. Add more salt, pepper, sugar, or red pepper flakes to your liking.
- Let the sauce cool slightly before using it on your pizza. Store leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
