Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup Fine Granulated Sugar (for rim)
  • 1/4 tsp Lemon Zest (optional, for rim)
  • 1 Lemon Wedge or Peel (for glass prep and garnish)
  • 2 oz Premium Vodka
  • 1 oz Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
  • 5 - 0.75 oz Simple Syrup (1:1 ratio)
  • 5 oz Orange Liqueur (Triple Sec or Cointreau)
  • Sufficient Ice

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Rim: Combine granulated sugar and lemon zest (if using) on a shallow plate. Run the fleshy side of the lemon wedge around the top exterior rim of the chilled martini glass. Dip the moistened rim lightly into the sugar mixture, rotating gently to coat only the outside edge.
  2. Chill the Glass: Place the rimmed glass back in the freezer while preparing the cocktail base to ensure maximum coldness.
  3. Combine Ingredients: Add the vodka, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, and orange liqueur to the cocktail shaker.
  4. Add Ice and Seal: Fill the shaker 2/3 full with high-quality ice. Ensure the lid is tightly secured.
  5. Shake Vigorously: Shake the cocktail vigorously for 15–20 seconds until the shaker is thoroughly frosted on the exterior. This chills and slightly dilutes the mixture, creating the perfect texture.
  6. Strain and Serve: Remove the glass from the freezer. Open the shaker and double strain the cocktail (using both the shaker's built-in strainer and an optional fine mesh strainer) into the chilled glass.
  7. Garnish: Garnish immediately with a thin, expressive lemon twist or a small sugared lemon wheel.
