Ingredients:
- 1 cup butter, softened (227g)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar (150g)
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed (165g)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (5ml)
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (280g)
- 1 tsp baking soda (5g)
- 1 tsp salt (6g)
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (340g)
- 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (115g)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is pale and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed butter mixture, mixing on low speed just until the flour streaks disappear.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and optional nuts by hand.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spaced 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 9 to 11 minutes until the edges are deep golden mahogany.
- Let the cookies rest on the pan for 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to firm up.
