Ingredients:

  • ½ cup (120 ml) soy sauce (preferably low-sodium)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) honey or brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) minced ginger
  • ½ teaspoon (2.5 g) red pepper flakes (optional)
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) water

Instructions:

  1. Gather all ingredients in a mixing bowl.
  2. Combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey (or brown sugar), sesame oil, minced garlic, and minced ginger into the bowl.
  3. Whisk the mixture until smooth and the sugar has dissolved.
  4. In a separate small bowl, mix cornstarch with water until fully dissolved.
  5. Add cornstarch mixture to the sauce mixture and stir until well combined.
  6. Optionally, sprinkle in red pepper flakes for some heat.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  8. Transfer the sauce to an airtight container for storage, or use immediately in your stir fry.
