Ingredients:

  • 12 oz (340 g) fresh cranberries, rinsed and drained
  • 1 medium orange, zested and juiced (about 1/2 cup or 120 ml juice)
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar, adjust to taste
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) water
  • 1/2 tsp (2 g) ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup (30 g) chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • 1/4 cup (35 g) raisins or dried cranberries (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) grated fresh ginger (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the cranberries and remove any damaged ones.
  2. Zest and juice the orange.
  3. In a medium saucepan, combine the cranberries, orange zest, orange juice, sugar, water, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. For a smoother texture, use a food processor or chop finely by hand until desired consistency is reached.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a mixing bowl and let it sit at room temperature for 15 minutes, then cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Serve chilled or at room temperature alongside your festive dishes.
