Ingredients:
- 1 (15 oz) can of tomato sauce (425 g)
- 1 (6 oz) can of tomato paste (170 g)
- ¼ cup (60 ml) apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons (30 g) brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon (15 g) chili powder
- 1 teaspoon (5 g) ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon (5 g) onion powder
- 1 teaspoon (5 g) garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon (3 g) smoked paprika
- ¼ teaspoon (1 g) cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ½ teaspoon (2 g) dried oregano (optional)
- Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- In a medium saucepan, mix together the tomato sauce, tomato paste, apple cider vinegar, and brown sugar.
- Stir in the chili powder, cumin, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper.
- Add salt and pepper to taste, and stir until fully combined.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat until it begins to simmer, approximately 5 minutes.
- Taste the sauce, adjusting spices or sweetness as necessary.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly before transferring to an airtight container.
- Refrigerate for up to one week, or freeze for longer storage.
