Ingredients:
- 1 cup raw almonds (150 g)
- 4 cups filtered water (950 ml), plus more for soaking
- 1-2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey (15-30 ml) (to taste)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (5 ml)
- A pinch of salt (optional)
Instructions:
- Place almonds in a bowl and cover with filtered water. Soak for at least 8 hours or overnight.
- After soaking, drain the almonds and rinse under cold water.
- In a high-speed blender, combine rinsed almonds and 4 cups of filtered water. Blend on high until smooth and creamy (about 1-2 minutes).
- Pour the almond mixture through a nut milk bag or fine mesh strainer into a bowl or pitcher. Squeeze or press to extract as much liquid as possible.
- If desired, stir in the optional flavorings like sweeteners, vanilla, or salt.
- Transfer almond milk to an airtight container and refrigerate. Use within 4-5 days.
