Ingredients:
- 1 medium head of broccoli, cut into small florets (approximately 300g / 10.5 oz)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (15 ml)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt (1.5 g)
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper (0.6 g)
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (1.5 g)
- 4 slices sourdough bread (or bread of your choice, approximately 100g / 3.5oz per slice)
- 4 tablespoons butter, softened (56 g / 2 oz)
- 4 ounces Havarti cheese, sliced (approximately 112g / 4 oz)
Instructions:
- Toss broccoli florets with olive oil, salt, pepper and garlic powder in a bowl.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the broccoli and sauté until tender-crisp and slightly browned, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- Butter one side of each bread slice. Place two bread slices, butter-side down, in the skillet.
- Top each bread slice with half of the Havarti cheese, then top with the sautéed broccoli.
- Add the remaining Havarti cheese. Top with the remaining bread slices, butter-side up.
- Cook over medium-low heat until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and gooey, about 3-5 minutes per side. Use a spatula to gently press the sandwiches down for even cooking. You can also use a grill press if you have one.
- Cut the sandwiches in half and serve hot.
