Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
  • 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk
  • ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract
  • 4 cups (960 ml) ice cubes
  • ½ cup (120 g) coarse salt

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Whisk until sugar is dissolved and mixture is smooth.
  2. Pour the ice cream mixture into the smaller quart-sized bag and seal tightly, removing excess air. In the larger gallon-sized bag, add ice cubes and coarse salt.
  3. Place the smaller bag inside the larger bag with ice and seal the larger bag.
  4. Shake the bag vigorously for about 5-10 minutes, holding with a towel or using oven mitts to protect your hands from the cold.
  5. After shaking, check if the ice cream has thickened to your desired consistency; continue shaking if necessary.
  6. Carefully remove the smaller bag from the larger one, wipe off salt, and scoop out the ice cream into bowls.
