Ingredients:
- 1 cup (226 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups (400 g) granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs, at room temperature
- 3 cups (360 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- Fresh berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries)
- Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease the baking pan and optionally line the bottom with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy (about 5 minutes).
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients.
- Stir in the vanilla extract until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
