Ingredients:
- 1 large (14 oz / 400g) English cucumber, thinly sliced
- 1/2 tsp (3g) kosher salt
- 1/2 cup (115g) mayonnaise
- 1 tsp (5ml) lemon juice
- 1 tbsp (3g) fresh dill, minced
- 1/4 tsp (1g) black pepper
- 1/8 tsp (1g) garlic powder
- 12 slices (approx. 1 lb / 450g) white bread, crusts removed
Instructions:
- Cut the cucumber into thin, uniform rounds (about 1/8 inch thick).
- Lay the slices on a paper towel, sprinkle with salt, and let sit for 5 minutes.
- Pat the top of the slices firmly with another paper towel to remove all surface moisture.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, lemon juice, minced dill, black pepper, and garlic powder until smooth and creamy.
- Spread a generous, even layer of the mayonnaise mixture onto one side of all 12 bread slices, ensuring you reach the very edges.
- Arrange the dried cucumber slices in an overlapping pattern on 6 of the bread slices.
- Top with the remaining 6 slices of bread, mayo-side down.
- Gently press down and slice into triangles or fingers using a serrated knife for a clean edge.
