Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) vanilla extract
  • 3 cups (710 ml) ice cubes
  • 1/3 cup (80 ml) coarse kosher salt (or rock salt)

Instructions:

  1. In the smaller resealable bag, combine heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract. Seal the bag tightly, pressing out any excess air.
  2. Fill the larger resealable bag with ice cubes and salt.
  3. Place the sealed smaller bag inside the larger bag containing the ice and salt. Seal the larger bag tightly.
  4. Using a kitchen towel or oven mitts to protect your hands from the cold, shake the bag vigorously for 15-20 minutes. Shake continuously, checking occasionally for consistency. The ice cream is ready when it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
  5. Remove the small bag from the large bag. Wipe off the outside of the small bag to remove any salt. Open the bag and enjoy your homemade ice cream in a bag immediately!
